Locksmith for Camp Pendleton Families, With a Military Discount

Straight terms, PCS timing, and an honest line about on base versus off.

Hours: Every day, 8:30 AM to 8:45 PM Licensed and insured

The discount, in one line

10% off labor for active duty, reserve, National Guard, veterans, and military spouses, with ID or orders. It applies to rekeys, lockouts, and installation labor; it does not stack with other offers, and hardware is priced separately. That is the whole policy. There is no fine print on the invoice that takes it back.

Camp Pendleton is Oceanside's north border and its biggest employer, with roughly 49,000 personnel assigned and closer to 80,000 people on the base on a working day. A large share of the families live in town, and a large share of our calendar comes from their moves. The discount is the least complicated way to say thanks.

On base or off base?

Family housing on Camp Pendleton is privatized: Liberty Military Housing runs most of the neighborhoods, and Hunt Military Communities runs De Luz. Lock changes, lockouts, and key issues in those homes go through the housing office's maintenance line. That is their contract and their hardware; a civilian locksmith cannot rekey it for you. If you live on base, call housing first.

Everything off base is ours: apartments and duplexes in San Luis Rey and Eastside, tract homes in Rancho Del Oro and Ivey Ranch, townhomes in Jeffries Ranch, and the rentals strung along Mission Avenue and SR-76 between the San Luis Rey Gate and the freeway. Whether we can drive onto the base for a car lockout depends on the base's visitor access rules that day; call us and we will tell you what we know, or meet you at the Main Gate visitor lot off Vandegrift Boulevard.

We say this up front because a page that promises "Camp Pendleton locksmith" without the distinction is selling you a trip charge.

PCSing in: rekey before the boxes come off the truck

You have a report date, a household-goods delivery window, and a lease that started three days ago. Somewhere in there the locks should change, because the last family on those orders handed back two keys and nobody knows how many were cut. Book the rekey for the morning the truck comes, or the day before if you are already in a hotel on the coast. We keep the hardware, repin every exterior door to one new key, and are gone before the crew needs the doorway.

Orders slip. Tell us and the appointment moves with them. How the rekey itself works, door by door.

PCSing out: hand back the right keys

Off-base landlords near the base do move-out inspections with a key count on the checklist, and a missing key can come out of the deposit as a full rekey. If a key vanished during the tour, we rekey and cut the exact number listed on your lease before the walkthrough, for less than the deduction. If you have to be on the road before the manager can meet you, we mount a wall-mounted lockbox by the door, leave the full key set inside, and give the code only to the manager. Then you are done.

Deployed or TAD?

When one of you is gone for six months, the other one is running the house alone. A spouse can book, meet us, and sign; we do not need the service member on the phone. Keys go missing on a school run, a lock jams in the marine layer, a teenager comes home to a deadbolt that will not turn. Call, and you get an arrival estimate and a quote before we start. For a lost key we recommend a rekey, not just a new copy, so the lost one stops working. Lockouts: what to have ready.

Where most of our military customers live

San Luis Rey, along the SR-76 corridor and North River Road, is the closest civilian neighborhood to the San Luis Rey Gate and has the highest turnover of off-base rentals in the city. Eastside, between Mission Avenue and Oceanside Boulevard, is older duplexes and bungalows with a steady stream of families on one- and two-year leases. Jeffries Ranch and Ivey Ranch pick up families who want newer homes and a longer drive.

Questions

What ID counts for the military discount?

A current military ID (CAC or dependent ID), a VA card, a DD-214, or a California driver license with the veteran designation. Orders work too if the ID is packed. A spouse with a dependent ID gets the same discount whether or not the service member is present.

Can my spouse book and meet you if I am deployed or on orders?

Yes. Whoever books is the contact; whoever is at the door lets us in and signs. We put the name on the invoice that you ask for, and we can send the photo invoice to two numbers so both of you have it.

Will my off-base landlord allow a rekey?

Almost always, once you offer a copy of the new key. Most Oceanside leases require the landlord to be able to enter in an emergency, so they want a key, not a veto. Many property managers near the base order the rekey themselves at every turnover; ask before you pay for it twice.

Can you meet my report date or household-goods delivery?

That is the point of booking ahead. Give us the delivery window and we schedule the rekey the same day, usually before the truck so the crew is not working around us. If your date slides, tell us and we slide with it. Summer is our fullest season because of PCS orders, so the earlier the better.

Do you work weekends during PCS season?

Our posted hours, including Saturday and Sunday, are on the contact page. Weekend availability during June through August changes with the calendar; call and ask, and if we are booked we will say so rather than overpromise.

I got orders mid-lease. Can I break the lease, and who rekeys?

The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act generally lets a service member terminate a residential lease with written notice and a copy of the orders when the orders are for a PCS or a deployment of 90 days or more; the base legal office can confirm how it applies to your lease. Rekeying between tenants is the landlord's responsibility, not yours, but returning the full key count avoids a deduction from the deposit.
